About EMS Bureau
In the year 1978, the Los Santos Fire Department was officially contracted by the state to provide fire suppression & emergency medical services to the city. The very first ambulance serving in the city of Los Santos was provided by the McGrath Emergency Transport Company, paving the way during the pioneer era of pre-hospital care. In December 1981, after a series of strikes, the McGrath Company was absorbed by the LSFD and since then has been officially serving under the Emergency Medical Services Division. With medicine advancing with every decade, in 2014, the LSFD has made great efforts to offer the highest quality of medical care in the pre-hospital setting - rebranding the EMS Division to the EMS Bureau, serving with modern medical care up to this day.
As of today, the LSFD EMS Bureau employs single-function Emergency Medical Technicians, Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians, and Paramedics. On a supervisory level, the LSFD EMS Bureau employs EMS Captains, EMS Battalion Captains, and an EMS Chief responsible for EMS operations as well as countless Rescue Ambulances serving the city and county of Los Santos.
Given the high dynamic range of situations responded to, the LSFD EMS Bureau serves as an umbrella for several specialized operations groups;
Tactical Emergency Medical Support Unit (TEMS)
Bicycle Paramedic Unit (BPU)
Advanced Provider Response Unit (APRU)
Paramedic Training Unit (PTU)
Additionally, single-function members of the LSFD EMS Bureau serve in other divisions;
Air Operations Section (Flight Paramedics, Rescue Technicians, and pilots)
Urban Search and Rescue (Rope Rescue Technicians, K9 Search and Rescue Specialists)
