Ride Along Program Information

Introduction

• The Los Santos Fire Department offers Civilians the opportunity to partner up with an EMS member or firefighter of the Los Santos Fire Department, Civilians will get a first-hand look with either an aerial or field unit in order to get a "taster" and a first-hand experience of the work that the Los Santos Fire Department does on day to day operations.

Requirements

• Be of 16 years of age minimum, obtain parental consent if under 18.
• Be a lawful permanent United States citizen.
• Must have a clean criminal record (No felonies or serious misdemeanors registered).
• Must be able-bodied in all aspects, including mentally.
• Must understand the concept of discipline.
• Speak English fluently. Additional language proficiency is welcome.

Regulations

• If you are under the age of 18, your parent / legal guardian must be present prior to beginning your ride along.
• Do as your accompanying Firefighter/EMT/Paramedic instructs you to.
• Abide by the San Andreas Penal Code at all times.
• Do not carry any weapons on your person at the time of the ride-along.
• Remain seated until told otherwise.
• If you do exit a vehicle, remain by the vehicle for the duration of the scene unless instructed otherwise.
• The LSFD is always responsible for the patient. You are not permitted to perform any sort of medical treatment or assistance, no matter your medical license.
• You will not be taken to high-risk situations, such as active shootings, barricaded suspects, or other situations where the risk of injury is considered higher than usual.

Post Approval Information

• To attend a ride-along, please make yourself known at Station 7 of the LSFD in El Burro Heights, South-east of Mirror Park or Station 3 in Davis on Macdonald Street Upon arriving at the station, ask for a Firefighter I/EMT Basic or above to hold a ride-along session.
• Please Make sure to have a form of photo ID ready if asked upon arriving.
• Keep in mind that Aerial ride-along may be denied depending on the circumstances as during rescue operations there's no space in the aircraft for civilians.
• Each ride-along application is valid for 3 weeks maximum from the day it is approved.

Disclaimers

• Civilian Staff, Candidates or other employees that go on a ride-along with others do not need to file a request but (for example Lifeguards with a Rescue unit) must do so off duty and are not allowed to be on duty during this. They are under the same regulations as any other ride-along.
• By submitting this application you are consenting to the Los Santos Fire Department to submit a criminal background check to the Los Santos Police Department.
