OPENING STATEMENT
Hello and welcome to the 40th edition of the Los Santos Fire Department Monthly Newsletter. This months newsletter comes baring little but important departmental news. This month the department has seen changes to the call-sign system which will be expanded on below and the reminding of the interdepartmental chain of command.

The department's call-sign system has changed when it comes to Rescue Ambulances. The Chief Officers from the Los Santos Fire Department has sat down and discussed the topic of changing the Rescue Ambulance call-signs. In the past Rescue Ambulances would be referred to RB and RA to differentiate from BLS and ALS. Units on-duty as a BLS unit will be referred to as RA-8XX, for example, if the unit is from station 7 the BLS unit will be referred to RA-871. Units on-duty as an ALS unit will be referred to as RA-XX.

The Chief Officers from the Los Santos Fire Department have seen a reoccurring issue when it comes to reporting something and not using the Chain of Command. Issues with external communications when it comes to information landing in the hands of people outside the department without consulting with chief officers or public relations. When coming to solving issues with members of other agencies we expect our employees to keep as professional as possible at all times. Under no circumstances does the department accept employees arguing or fighting with any member of another agency.

We've also seen an introduction of a new division to the Los Santos Fire Department, specifically the Tactical Emergency Medical Services, whom will be responding to more specific tactical situations, they are highly skilled and trained to respond to high-priority situations involving a risk of a gunfight or a situation where the police haven't fully cleared the scene. We are really excited to see this in action.

The last thing to mention in this opening statement is a really exciting addition to the department. A brand new training facility has been brought into use for the training section of the Training and Recruitment Division. The new facility houses all new door breach training, an example hydrant for teaching academy students. The main new feature of the new training center will be the state of the art structure for training students to fight fires inside and outside structures.

. MESSAGE FROM THE CHIEF
Image Hello everyone,

I hope you're all doing well and in good health. This month has been very eventful, we've had quite a few fires, yet all of them concluding in successful incidents due to the continued valiant efforts of you all, we have also welcomed the new ladder trucks into the fleet and I'm sure they are starting to feel familiar as they continue to get worked in to Station 6 and Station 7. October we had an aircraft crash, and our very own Engineer Reinhart and Firefighter Hewson responded via medevac. Reinhart suffered extensive injuries in order to extricate the patient and I would like to congratulate him on his purple ribbon, going above and beyond in order to save a life.

Every one of you have done fantastic this month, I'm proud to call each one of you family and I'm also very proud of the effort from people that often goes unnoticed on an individual level, especially when it comes to training the new probationary's.

A big congratulations to all who were promoted and have progressed in their careers with the department this month, it's well deserved. And with all that said, that's it from me this month, I look forward to many more and to see everyone flourish even further.

Director of Battalion 2

. DEPARTMENTAL UPDATES-
.
POLICY HIGHLIGHTS
  • (( Transporting patients to PHMC ))
    • When it comes to transporting patients to PHMC (Pillbox Hospital Medical Center) its your responsibility as a medical responder to call for PHMC over the departmental informing them of a patient you're about to transport, you should provide as much info to them as possible including last vital checks, the nature of their injuries, what state of consciousness they're in, what equipment / treatment you've applied and anything else relevant. This is your responsibility as the patient is your responsibility under your care and it doesn't fall under a Metro responsibility. Sometimes people may miss something you've wrote, this happens to everyone so do try to apply common courtesy towards your fellow roleplayer.
(( FACTION UPDATES ))
  • Station 3 - New interior
    • With the amazing work of our amazing mapper we can finally manage to provide the faction with high quality mappings to improve our roleplay environment. More will hopefully come in the future but in the meantime, make sure you check it out!
  • Tactical Emergency Medical Services
    • The Tactical Emergency Medical Services division is now open and recruiting for paramedics to become tactical medics. TEMS medics will work alongside the Police Department's SWAT and Sheriff Department's SWT in tactical scenes such as barricaded suspects and active shooters to provide care, something previously inaccessible to FD staff due to the level of risk. While it won't be 24/7 action, the roleplay and development is interesting and exciting. For more information please read viewtopic.php?f=360&p=64051#p62866
  • LSFD Academy Training Grounds
    • The Training & Recruitment division along with the Office of The Fire Chief is happy to announce the completion of the new LSFD Academy Training Grounds, mapped by our own Patrycja Lipska and Clarke MacKay.
  • Station Pride
    • The concern that has been brought to our attention as said is station rivalries, rivalries between stations can be for several reasons however they should be reserved for a little healthy competition in a friendly light. They should not under any circumstance be used to try and belittle or diminish any station or the staff that are based there, they should also not be used to pull people from one station to the other based on poor information or biased opinions just because they want to be where they are. We ask a department work together and help encourage people to do things they want (within reason/rules/policy) and help develop the faction alongside us. We currently have things we’re working on in the background that we will bring to you and share as the time nears but as we stand at present, have fun, be good, enjoy what we have.
  • Faction Feedback Form
    • The faction has released a new feedback form to assist in gathering information from faction members, the answers are anonymous, so please be as honest as possible when filling the form out. https://forms.gle/uvGCQu8vim5ySfU87

DIVISIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
Lifeguard Service
During the month of October our Lifeguards have been sporting pink t-shirts in place of their regular blue in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. Throughout the month of November our Lifeguards will have false tattoos of a moustache on their arms in support of Prostate Cancer awareness and Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month.
For many years there has been the stipulation that men must remain the forefront of ‘strength’ in terms of not only in fitness but too in emotion. We often hear comments such as “men do not cry” and “man up” which in many circumstances can be damaging to mental health. Men’s Mental Health is an extremely important topic and I urge that if anyone is currently experiencing trouble and need to seek help, please do seek it. To note, this is not to bring shadow upon Women’s Mental Health in any form, but to bring awareness on all parts.
Tower One, among the many stations in our Department, is always open as a safe space if you need to take a moment away from everything to just breathe. Our door will always be open for you no matter the hour nor the circumstance.
You are important. You are not a stereotype. You are human. You are valid.

((On an OOC note, I would like to further extend awareness of mental health this month. Below I have compiled a list of links and resources which may help you if you are experiencing mental health problems. No matter your gender, you are valid. Please know that you are not alone in this fight.
