⠀ Written by: Alice MacCarthy Published: 28/12/2020
2020 has been a year of prosperity for the Los Santos Fire Department, celebrating successes, innovating, educating and continuing our promise to serve the community of Los Santos with Courage, Integrity and Pride. A promise made since the Departments founding in 1886. However, as 2020 draws to a close, the department spends time to reflect and remember those colleagues lost along the way.
In 2020, the Department has said goodbye to many colleagues along the way who have departed us for pastures new. But, not always do they leave us by choice. This year, the Los Santos Fire Department has lost six Firefighters. Six colleagues. Family members. Who clocked in to their shifts with the prospect of returning to their families after. The Firefighters Prayer
When I am called to duty, God, whenever flames may rage;
Give me strength to save some life, whatever be its age.
Help me embrace a little child before it’s too late
Or save an older person from the horror of that fate.
Enable me to be alert and hear the weakest shout,
And quickly and efficiently to put the fire out.
I want to fill my calling to give the best in me,
To guard my every neighbor and protect their property.
And if, according to my fate, I am to lose my life;
Please bless with your protecting hand my children and my wife.
