VINEWOOD HILLS - A frightening call was made by a woman whose car broke down and had spun off the mountainous roads. She ended up stuck in her car whilst it hung on top of a cliff above a waterfall, with the front wheels in the air. The LS Fire Department was quick to respond by dispatching the USAR team as well as the LSFD Air Operations to locate the person, as they were in the middle of nowhere.

After the LSFD Air Operations had successfully located the person in need within just a few minutes, USAR was quick to arrive at the scene. The LSFD Firefighters rushed to the car and attached two ropes to the rear wheels from their engine vehicle to the car to keep it balanced on the cliff, whilst another Firefighter conversed with the woman to keep her calm and relay her instructions.

Once the car was balanced on the cliff, the firefighters decided to open the rear doors and trunk of the car, and rescued the woman out of the vehicle.

“A situation like this is very rare, and yet they exercised their skills quickly, they assessed the situation quickly, and they did what had to be done bravely," said Deputy Chief Schneider. "Thanks to their bravery, thanks to their efforts, and thanks to their ingenuity, we have someone who was saved. It’s a happy day for her, and it’s a happy day for all of us."
