To report an emergency call 9-1-1

The phone number 9-1-1 should be called when firefighters, medical help or law enforcement are needed immediately due to a threat to life or property. These typically include:
  • Unattended or out of control fire
  • Unconsciousness (someone has passed out and is not responding)
  • Someone is having difficulty breathing, talking or skin color is changing (typically blue)
  • Large volume of blood loss or broken bones
  • Someone is trapped, stranded or having difficulty in water
  • A criminal is present or a crime is being committed
  • Any immediate threat to life or property
When calling 9-1-1 be prepared to give a location immediately. Address, street names, key landmarks...etc. and anything else that would help the First Responders. If your phone has GPS keep it on, sometimes we can contact you for the GPS location. If there's more than one person available having someone standing by the nearest road to direct emergency workers in is also useful.

9-1-1 is for emergencies only. For general queries contact 3-3-3.
Never call 9-1-1 as a joke as this wastes emergency resources and risks other's lives because units are not available to attend their emergency. Misuse of 911 can result in citations and/or imprisonment.
